First I have the priveledge to know Mike and Byron. i am glad to see that the media (in this case the tribune) come out with the real story. The first story that ran is the reason recovery agents get a bad name. If you knew Mike or Byron you would know these are proffesional people doing a very difficult job.

First of all to the Recovery Agents good work on making sure you went home. Hope that this don’t change your choice to be a recovery agent.
Second over all this was a good showing of what happened and why the outcome was what it was, the bad part to this shows that the public still is not informed enough of the way bail works,
“A bail contract is a bit like an insurance policy. A defendant pays a bail company a small sum and promises to appear in court. The bond company pays the court a fraction of the bail – typically a tenth of the actual amount.”
this is just one of the parts i noticed that needs to be explained a little better. anyhow.
Also even thought RCW 10.19.160 explains the surety’s right to revoke bail and what they should do by surrendering the def to the “facility” you can also look at the RCW for use of force (the number i cant remember) it says you can surrender a person to a officer that can take custody of the def. The RCW argument continues.
To all the recovery agents, if you follow what the laws tell you most of the time you will come out of a bad situation with nothing more then a memory and a story. Keep up the work and good hunting to everyone.
